And the 2003 winner is .....

MARKUS CURRY !!!

Markus joined a proud fraternity after the OSU game this year when he stepped up to accept the award as the 6th Tailgate All American in history. Only a junior, Markus has a chance to enter into a class of his own next season as he tries to become the only 2-time winner of the award. But let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. Until then...

CONGRATULATIONS TO #30 MARKUS CURRY !!!!!!

The Tailgate All-American award is bestowed annually at the last tailgate party we throw.  As far as we know, it is the only one of it's kind and also the first All-American award given each season.

As you might imagine, it's a very prestigious and much sought after honor.  Those guys may talk about wanting Big 10 titles and Rose Bowl wins, but we can read between the lines. You don't think they work  the whole year just to win ball games do you?

Dhani Jones 1999 winner

What is the criteria you ask ? Actual stats have nothing to do with it. We decide who the winner is based on a complicated formula that is much too involved to explain here. You just have to trust us.

Shantee Orr  2002 winner

*********************************

At the culmination of the 2003 season we decided to add another "Ring of Honor" for our tailgate brethren. At the final tailgate of the season, the BHT bestowed the first ever "Tailgate Hall of Fame" award.  This will be presented on an irregular basis as we see fit. The criteria is very similar to that of the Tailgate All American award only that the Hall of Fame award will be bestowed on someone who is not currently active with the Wolverines. It will be given to those that show outstanding commitment to their tailgating roots.

It was truly our privilege to be able to welcome the first inductee to the Hall of Fame. Congratulations to:

JULIUS CURRY !!!!!!!

Julius was a unanimous selection of the BHT Executive Committee. We've all had the pleasure of tailgating with the Curry family since his freshman year at Michigan and look forward to many more years to come. It was truly a great moment for all of us to be able to induct him on the same day that Markus was honored as the '03 All American. Obviously a defining moment in tailgating history ...
